Remember, all contributions to the Trust are tax-deductible. If you would like to give a special, year-end gift, now is the time.
This may be one of the very best times to consider a gift of cash, real
estate, life income gifts and especially stock. Giving long-term appreciated
stock offers you a two-fold tax saving. First, you avoid paying any capital
gains tax on the increase in value in your stock. In addition, you receive a tax
deduction for the full fair market value of the stock on the date of the gift.
Memorials and Honorariums
Create a Living Legacy
A memorial or honorarium is a thoughtful way of paying tribute to a relative,
friend or associate while benefiting your community.
If you would like to remember a special person or occasion, what better way to
honor those who appreciate our natural environment than by helping us value and
protect the natural diversity that makes our area so unique.
A donation to the Trust will help us protect nature in your community, enhance a nature preserve or provide environmental education opportunities.
We are pleased to accept donations in honor of birthdays, graduations,
marriages, anniversaries and Christmas as well as donations in memory of loved
ones. The honoree or their family will be notified of your gift and we will also
send you an acknowledgment of the donation for your tax records.

Volunteers
needed!
If you value nature and can find some free time, we invite you to consider joining your neighbors in volunteering with the Trust.
Current Volunteer Needs:
Office Assistance –
There’s always miscellaneous tasks to be done: internet research on prospective donors, sending out donor thank you letters, running errands, setting up meetings with donors and landowners, scheduling nature program speakers, sending out information packages in response to inquiries . . .
You must be internet “savvy”, know Microsoft Word and comfortable with computer software, enjoy talking to people, and eager to share the “conservation message” of Southern Conservation Trust.
Many tasks can be done at home, at your convenience.
Preserve Steward
Help monitor the trails and visitor amenities at the Flat Creek or Line Creek Nature Area
At your convenience walk the trail and complete a report, once or twice each month
Outdoor Maintenance
Do you enjoy working outside – and contributing to your community? Do you have some free time during the day?
We have occasional opportunities for volunteers to do some minor maintenance:
installing a sign, moving a fallen tree from a trail, weeding, etc.
If this interests you, we can add your name to our “Maintenance On-Call” list.
You’ll need your own equipment – we’ll provide supplies.
Promoting Southern Conservation Trust at Community Events
Southern Conservation Trust may, from time to time, have a table at community events and distribute information about our work. Typically such events, festivals, etc. are on a Saturday. You would greet visitors, hand out our brochure, and obtain names on a sign-up sheet.
Serve on a Trust Committee
The Trust has several committees for which we’re seeking volunteers. In some cases we’re looking for specific experience, fox example, the Land Committee has need of land professionals such as a surveyor, real estate agent, or appraiser. Our Fundraising Committee is looking for volunteers who are active in the community and willing to set up meetings for our staff with their friends and business associates. Typically a Committee meets once each month, in the evening. Other Committee tasks can be done on your schedule at your home or office.
Or – NO experience required – Help us with a fundraising event or member event, such as helping to plan a nature walk or small gathering.
