Nature Discovery Program The Earth Beneath Our Feet

Explore the hidden world beneath our feet as you learn about soil, rocks and minerals in the Fayette County area. Southern Conservation Trust is hosting a Nature Discovery program with Dr. Pamela Burnley, a geology professor at Georgia State University, on Thursday May 13th at 7pm at the Flat Creek Nature Center in Peachtree City.

The free all-ages program will present information about soil types (it’s not just clay!), the composition of common rocks and minerals in our area, and what are those rock outcroppings anyway? Visitors will gain some understanding of a little known aspect of our natural community.

The Geology program is one in a series of Nature Discovery programs presented by Southern Conservation Trust on topics relating to the local natural environment and ways to protect it. Southern Conservation Trust is a nonprofit land trust based in Peachtree City that owns and manages over 600 acres of nature preserves in Fayette County.

This May 13th program was originally scheduled for Tuesday, May 11th. The program is free, open to the public and suitable for all ages. The location is the Flat Creek Nature Center, adjacent to the Frederick Brown amphitheatre, at 201McIntosh Trail in Peachtree City.
